Mattersey’s Jim Brown Memorial Steel Shoot I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who put so much hard work, time and effort into running the Jim Brown Memorial Steel Shoot. The club raised £1540 for Cancer charities and Help 4 Heroes with the help of some great sponsorship from Pete Starley of Midway UK (£500), York Guns with a great range of shooting goodies and David Ferguson of Faster Horses Leather Company who made and donated a fast draw PPC holster and belt and two leather gun belts, which we auctioned and raised £135. Toni Tedesco made cakes for sale and raised £51, Steve Wilson kindly donated the use of some of his classic rifles and ammo and raised £30. Obviously an event like this could not happen if it were not for all those people who worked as range crew on the day also the people like Mark Wilson who made all the trestles to stand the plate racks on and many more who made the protective boxes. Most of all I would like to thank Malcolm Dukes, Club Captain for organising the event as until you have done all the paper work and squadding you would not realise just how much there is to do. Thank you also to the following Committee members who were there - Pete Harvey, Dave Stanley, Paul Stockill and Byron Wood. Also Rex Harland, Rob Blower, Alison, Mick & Toni Tedesco, John Kime, Martin Cooper, Maurice Barrott, John McCue and Richard Tideswell. A big thank you to Dale Pearmain for doing the stats, this is not an easy job but Dale is so laid back he seems to sail through it! There could be others I have missed if so I apologise. The two winners, Mick Tedesco & Gwyn Roberts, got to choose the two cancer charities to give to (Marie Curie & Cancer Research), with the rest going to Help 4 Heroes and each winner received an engraved Tankard. I donated a trophy in honour of a friend and fellow member of Mattersey who died few years ago ED Belshaw, and this trophy went to the winner of the Man v Man, Jim Starley. Once again a big thank you to all those who helped either on the day or before. Pete Whomersley (Chairman) |
